Archery in Ledbury

Ledbury Town Football Club has 200 volunteers who have all been working very hard to turn their premises into a resource for all the community, as well as to improve the grounds, and they invited Elizabeth the REACH development worker for Ledbury to come and see, and advise on grant funding.

A skittles club meets in the refurbished clubhouse and the football club also welcomed the idea that the grounds would suit an archery club. Since then, Elizabeth has been working with a committee of volunteers to help set up Ledbury’s first archery club which will be affiliated to the Football Club.

An archery taster day for the over 50s was held in august 2011 using funding from the government’s Active at 60 grant, and participants were encouraged to volunteer with the club. A beginner’s course will take place in September 2011 thanks to the kindness of Malvern Archers and Herefordshire Company of Bowmen, and it is hoped the club will grow accordingly.
